Speaking at the Henderson Business Resource Connection - August 31, 2010. Ellen spoke about Colonel Sanders who re-invented himself and his business many times in the course of his life. He opened his first restaurant at age 40; invented the "original recipe" at age 50; was broke at age 65; and sold his interest in KFC for $2 million at age 74. Ellen believes that like him, Nevadans must refuse to give up and strive to bounce back. She is working hard to help.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
As I've spent the past many months going door-to-door and speaking with our neighbors, the question that I hear most often is, "given all the problems that Nevada has, why do you want to run for re-election?" The answer is simple. I believe in public service, and I believe that I can continue to deliver positive results for the residents of Assembly District 21, as well as for all Nevadans, which is why I:
• Initiated the Henderson Entrepreneur Fair and Henderson Business Resource Connection -- two successful events that helped people start or grow businesses
• Spoke with over 1,300 students last year and attended school Parent Advisory Committee meetings
• Prepared a pamphlet of "Back to School Tips," which gives you some ideas of ways to help your children succeed in school
• Send out a monthly eNewsletter to keep everyone up to date on important matters affecting our state and community (click here to subscribe)
• Continue to be involved with community groups

It has been a privilege and pleasure to serve you as your Assemblywoman in District 21, State of Nevada. My record of achievements is well-documented, and I know you appreciate the level of constituent service that I provide.
Because state revenues still will not have recovered by the next legislative session, it is anticipated that the budget gap we'll be facing for the next biennium will be nearly half of today's budget. It is imperative that we elect leaders who understand these challenges and put forth real solutions that will put Nevada on the path to financial strength and long-term economic success.
I am staying focused on the "big picture" and working to help find creative solutions. I have already submitted four Bill Draft Requests for the 2011 Legislative Session. If enacted, these laws would make it easier for businesses to hire unemployed Nevadans; help the state save money; allow parents to become more involved with their childrens' education; and support our active duty military.
My work will aid in the preservation of our children's future and prepare Nevada's economy for good jobs in the future. It is my mission to do everything I can to help my constituents achieve the American dream, and I am thrilled that my efforts both at home and in Carson City will lead to a brighter tomorrow.
Together, we will get through this. I believe in the people of Nevada, and I'm confident that with the right support, we can turn things around for ourselves.
With your help, I'll be the first person in a decade to represent Assembly District 21 for more than one term. Together we can do it - but it will take a lot of hard work and perseverance.
I continue to be thankful for the many hundreds of you who helped my campaign by volunteering your time, contributing your hard earned money and displaying my campaign signs at your homes or businesses. Without this help from you my friends, family and neighbors, we could not be victorious.
At this time I respectfully request your vote as well as your continued support -- so we can move forward together to strengthen Nevada and address our community's issues.
Sincerely,
